As other reviewers have said, this is a great place to start a Viking River Cruise on the Rhine River. They provided a boat tour of the canal system in the city. There were boats moored along the canals ranging from row boats to large work boats. Some of the workboats had been converted to housing. There were plenty of tour boats available to meet any budget and interests. There were houses built on barges moored to the canal banks. I was surprised that so many boats moored along the canals seemed to be poorly maintained. Amsterdam is a beautiful city, unlike any I have ever seen before.

Viking is excellent. They do need to better serve clients in Amsterdam where there were 3 possible locations for docking and provide local phone numbers

Terrific location. After check-in, we walked into the city to spend the day prior to leaving at night. So close to it all!

This is a great spot for starting a Rhine river cruise. They offer a quick city tour the day you board, so you can get a flavor of the city. Also, there is a small grocery store nearby in the train station in case you want to bring a few things on board.
